Our goal is to help all families affected by CDH so we don’t restrict our support services to our members only. However, we do encourage people who benefit from our services to become a member of CDH Australia and help us with our administration costs to maintain the organisation and our services. This is because we do not want to use donations and fundraising to cover day to day items such as postage, as we feel these funds should be spent on supporting families and research efforts.
Membership costs an annual fee of $20 AUD for full membership and $10 AUD for concession card holders, which is not tax deductible. Membership fees are due on 1st July each year and once you become a member a renewal request will be emailed to you in July each year. If you join from March onwards your first annual membership fee will be waived. The membership fee is evaluated each year by the board to determine whether we are able to reduce costs dependant on the number of members and the level of service demand.
Members are entitled to volunteer for CDH Australia and vote at our Annual General Meeting. The categories of membership are:
- Ordinary member: Parents/carers and adult survivors who: have CDH, have a child with CDH, have had a child with CDH or are expecting a child with CDH.
- Support member: Professionals who work with people with CDH or their families, or organisations that provide medical or other support services for people with CDH or their families.
- Extended family and friends member: People who are an extended family member of a person with CDH or a friend of a person with CDH.
